Hello! I had fun making a decoupage ornament and wanted to share it with you. I love to decoupage, in fact I have a tall bookcase next to my desk covered in pretty pictures and nice words from magazines. I think it is a great way to personalize your home and have a release for your creativity. So I thought it would be fun to make a holiday decoupage, so last time I did my weekly trip to Michaels, I found some clear ornaments 50% off and grabbed a few of them for just .50 each! I decided to make one decoupage and make some glitter ones as well.
I cut most of my pictures out of catalogues. We all get so many advertisements in the mail this time of the year, this is a great way to use them. I also got some out of my monthly magazine subscriptions that change their theme according to the time of the year.
It is super simple to do, just cut out your pictures and words, get an idea of how you want to lay it all out and use Modge Podge to glue them on. Once you've finished cover to whole thing with Modge Podge to seal and protect the paper (don't worry it goes on white but dries clear).
In my experience with Modge Podge and paper, you want to use a very light thin layer otherwise the moisture of the glue will wrinkle to paper. Its better to use not enough than too much.
If you want to add glitter to it then just run your Modge Podge over the glitter to seal it to the ornament so it wont make a mess under your tree. I think glitter looks beautiful on almost anything, but I wish I didn't use glitter on this ornament. I think it looked nicer before the glitter, so if your going to use glitter I recommend a clear glitter to just give it some shimmer.
This is a great project to do with kids, its a lot of fun, super easy, and no glue gun is involved.
I will be making more in the future, its always a learning experience and I know my next ones will look amazing compared to this one. What do you guys think?
