My top 10 Christmas Movies of the 21st Century

Last week I did my list of my top 5 Santa Claus's from holiday movies, so this week Id like to recommend my top 10 Christmas movies of the 21st century.

1. Number one on my list is the 2003 movie " Elf" starring Will Ferrel. I love how timeless this movie is. I watch it every year and always look forward to watching it again next year. Will Ferrels charater, Buddy the Elf, is so carefree, innocent and just emulates joy. I believe we could all learn a little something from him, I try to strive to have his sweet blissful spirit.

2.  Home alone, 1990 and Home Alone 2, 1992, are second on my list because these have become classics. i know they are not technically in the 21st century, but my list wouldn't feel right without Home Alone on it. Everyone knows and loves Home Alone. This is one that I grew up watching and really enjoyed the little boy, Macaualy played by Kevin McCallister. I loved his crafty yet devious tactics as he defended his home against the dumbest burglars ever.
3. The Santa Claus, the first movie came out in 1995 but the most recent one was released in 2006, so it still counts as a 21st century Christmas movie to me. Starring Tim Allen as Santa Claus, who was the number one on my best Santa Claus list.  This is just one of those movie series that is Christmas to the max. A story of Santa Claus as the hero who melts Jack Frosts icy heart.

 4. I just watched Disney's A Christmas Carol a couple years ago in 3D; It was a really fun experience for me! Jim Carey plays the scrooge in this 2009 version of the Scrooge, the thing I love the most about this movie is the beauty of it. The animations is gorgeous and magical, it will have you on the edge of your seat the whole time. I am looking forward to re-watching this movie again this year.

5. Christmas with the Kranks is a funny movie Starring Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis. Released in 2004, its ultimately the story of the Kranks deciding to take a break from Christmas and going on a cruise instead when their only daughter goes off to college. Their holiday obsessed neighborhood despises this idea and turns against them. Just before they are about to run off to their cruise, their daughter tells them shes coming home for Christmas. They then have to turn to their neighbors for help with the preparations. its a story of forgiveness and coming together to help others in need.
 6. No Christmas movie list would be complete without the movie How The Grinch Stole Christmas. There as so many different versions of this movie, but my favorite is the most recent one starring Jim Carey dressed up as the Grinch released in 2003. When we think of Christmas, we think of the Grinch because where ever their is light there is dark, and this story is how the light overcame the darkness that is the Grinch and turned him into a Santa Claus of the town. It just shows that you cant judge someone as good or bad because it may just be that they need a little love and acceptance.
7. The Polar Express just released in 2004, has a Harry Potter feel to it. Although this movie may be a tad bit dark for Christmas, its still one I recommend you watch with the kids. Its a story that reminds me of a kids imagination, of whimsical trains and the endless possibilities of life.

 8. Fred Claus is a story of a man, Vince Vaughn playing Fred Claus, who rebels against his heritage in the Claus family. Though his entire life he has lived in the shadow of his brother Santa Claus, for this reason he has developed a strong hate for the holidays. This is the, 2007, story of how Santa Clauses brother finds the holiday spirit inside of him and saves Christmas for everyone.

9. Just Friends is a movie that takes place during the Christmas season in 2005. Its about a guy, Ryan Reynolds playing Chris, who was teased his entire life. He grows up to be successful, attractive, and rich and he seemingly has the perfect life except for one thing, love. He has cut himself off from his home town and his one true love that lives there Jamie, played by Amy Smart. This is the story of how he is pushed into going back home and while he is there remembers all of his feelings he had for his best friend/true love. He spends the movie trying to win her over competing with his high school bully who has alternative motives. He ends up falling right back into being the person he was in high school but reconnects with his emotions and family.
10. Four Christmases, is another story of skipping Christmas to go somewhere tropical and warm. Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon playing Brad and Kate ditch their families every year on Christmas, but when their plains go sour one year where all flights are cancelled, they are forced to spend Christmas day rushing between their families homes, but learn a lesson along the way. This movie can be a little crude for Christmas, so be warned. 2008

Whats you all time favorite Christmas movie?  I have so many more that are not on my list from the earlier years. What do you think of how Christmas movies have changed over time? Tell me your thought in the comment box.
